Abstract Ceramics

August 14th, 2010

As I continue to search for the perfect wedding gift, I came across some very interesting dinnerware. East Hampton, NY based Sydney Studios produces beautiful ceramic pieces that can stand well alone or complete an entire table setting. Some of the brightly glazed plates, and bowls are pictured below. I would love to see this design style in the form of wallpaper or baby bedding.

Recently I have been browsing for wedding gifts and came across remodelista.com. Below are a few pics of some of my favorites on the site. Included on the site is a library of wonderful decor ideas, as well as many well curated resources for shopping both online and in different cities.

A World Tour of Textiles

July 25th, 2010

John Robshaw designs beautiful print based products for the home. To find inspiration for his line, John travels around the world and works with a nonprofit organization called Aid to Artisans. The orginization connects talented craftspeople in struggling countries to global markets to help their businesses thrive and grow. To create his work he combines the designs and techniques from the different cultures that inspire him. It wouldn’t surprise me if the John Robshaw brand expands into wallpaper in the future.

Hand Made Toys

June 22nd, 2010

Renate Müller has been creating limited quantity toys that are used for therapeutic purposes for handicapped children since the 1960’s. These toys became very successful in hospitals as they were used for hand-eye coordination, balance training, and sensory and orthopedic exercises. These toys are highly functional, so beautiful and unfortunately very expensive! I would love to see Renate Mullers estate put out a more accessible series.

Turning Preppy

I mentioned The Brook Farm General Store in a earlier post last week but wanted to share some details. They stock some of the most beautiful linen products from europe and tons of other goodies for the home. Everything has a nautical and fresh feel. They even have luxurious Mateo bedding. Since I live so close my home is slowly transforming as I continue shopping there.
